What is a Juice Cleanse?

A juice cleanse is a short term detoxification program for cleansing the colon.  During the cleanse, only fruit and vegetable juices are consumed.   Water may also be consumed.  There are a few variations of the juice cleanse which may include adding nutritional powders, herbal teas, or one raw (fruit and vegetable) meal per day.

Juices are made in a juice machine, which extracts and separates the juice from the fiber.  Drinking this kind of juice is easier on the digestive system and allows the colon to rest and detoxify itself.  The vitamins in the juice are quickly absorbed by the body and used to stay healthy.

Other terms for a juice cleanse are juice fast and juice detox.  These terms may be used interchangably.
Before beginning a juice cleanse, you should be in relatively good health and should consult a health professional who can guide you through the process.
